Commercial Driver’s License Physicals in Brooklyn NY

Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) are needed for “safety-sensitive” jobs, which means they can impact the safety of the driver, as well as the safety of the public. The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires a physical exam to obtain a CDL.

Diabetic Condition
Bring a list of medications and the name of the prescribing doctor.

High Blood Pressure
Bring a list of medications and the name of the prescribing doctor.

Heart Condition
If you’ve had a heart attack or cardiovascular disease, bring a copy of your last stress test.

Sleep Apnea
Bring a copy of your latest sleep test results, if you have one.

Medications
List all the prescription medicines you take, including strength and dosage. If you regularly take over-the-counter medications, such as antacids or allergy pills, list them too.

Contact Information
Bring the names and phone numbers of your doctors in case you need them to fax missing information.

• Drink plenty of water; a full urinalysis is included

Our providers are FMCSA National Registry Certified Medical Examiners and are qualified to perform CDL/DOT/TLC physicals. We are available to provide CDL medical exams 7 days a week and walk-ins are welcome!

As of May 21, 2014, only US DOT-certified federal medical examiners can give you a CDL card.

Big Apple Urgent Care does not administer drug testing for issuing a Medical Examiner’s Certificate. If your employer requires a Urine Drug Screen, please see our front desk staff for more information.

Big Apple Urgent Care cannot use your health insurance plan for this federal administrative visit because a CDL Medical Exam by a DOT Medical Examiner is NOT covered under any health plan. Call your health plan provider if you have questions. Billing an insurance company for this visit is health insurance fraud.

FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations have made it more difficult to get a CDL Card or renew your CDL license. Don’t let your CDL expire!
