Mr. Fils was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. He currently lives in New York City with his family. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and received a Physician Assistant certificate at Saint John’s University in 2010. Wadson Fils is a certified Physician Assistant and co-founder of Big Apple Urgent Care. Mr. Fils has worked in some of the busiest hospitals in the New York City area as an Emergency Room Physician Assistant including Queens General Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center (now NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn), Long Island Jewish Valley Stream – Northwell Health, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Yonkers.
His extensive experience in the emergency room setting inspired him to co-found Big Apple Urgent Care as a safe, affordable, and effective alternative for non-emergency medical issues. His strong passion for community health and wellness in underserved areas extends beyond the walls of Big Apple Urgent Care, as he firmly believes in educating his patients—especially in preventive care—which patients may not be able to receive in a crowded emergency room setting.
From interviews on Haitian radio to speaking at churches and community events, Mr. Fils shares his medical knowledge—as well as information sessions on small business ownership—with the East Flatbush community. He’s presented at the New Jerusalem Church of the Nazarene, the 67th Precinct Council Meeting, the East Flatbush Village Center, and the Brooklyn Free School. He also participated in Fenimore Street United Methodist Church’s Young Kings Rising panel to share some important words on empowerment and the importance of resisting peer pressure.
